The former actress, age 39, posted a photo on Instagram Stories on Monday, December 22, stating, "I usually don't like paparazzi pictures bc I was 180lbs but now I've lost 28lbs on ozempic! I'm down to 152lbs. I know I still look big but this photo is really inspiring to me!"

The snapshot featured Bynes in ripped jeans and a Lady Gaga T-shirt as she walked down a sidewalk. She accessorized with a blue handbag, maintaining a California casual style.

In September, the Nickelodeon alum also debuted a new two-toned hair color, platinum and black, reminiscent of the early 2000s, in Los Angeles.

Additionally, in August, Bynes showcased fuller lips on Instagram, captioning the post, "Lip injections by @body.byem <3."

Earlier in the year, Bynes announced the launch of an OnlyFans account via Instagram. She clarified in April, "Disclaimer: I'm doing OnlyFans to chat with my fans through dm's. I won't be posting any sleazy content."

Bynes gained fame as a child star, with roles in Nickelodeon's All That and The Amanda Show. As a teenager, she starred in The WB sitcom What I Like About You and films like Big Fat Liar, She's the Man, and Hairspray during the Aughts. Her final film role was in 2010's Easy A, after which she retired from acting.

In 2019, Bynes graduated with a fashion degree from California's Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Around the same time, she was profiled by Paper magazine and openly discussed the pressures of early fame.

She told the outlet in 2018, "I literally couldn't stand my appearance in [Easy A] and I didn't like my performance. I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it."

She further added, "I was high on marijuana when I saw that but for some reason it really started to affect me. I don't know if it was a drug-induced psychosis or what, but it affected my brain in a different way than it affects other people. It absolutely changed my perception of things."

Since 2012, Bynes' struggles with substance abuse and mental health have been widely reported, following a series of arrests that led to psychiatric hospitalization. She spent five months in rehab in 2013.

She started treatment again five years later. In 2020, Bynes' lawyer, David Esquibias, verified that the actress was seeking professional assistance for her "ongoing mental health issues."

Bynes previously told Paper, "It definitely isn't fun when people diagnose you with what they think you are. That was always really bothersome to me. If you deny anything and tell them what it actually is, they don't believe you. Truly, for me, [my behavior] was drug-induced, and whenever I got off of [drugs], I was always back to normal."

In March 2024, she updated her followers on Instagram Story, stating that she was "doing a lot better now" amidst a bout of depression. This June, she revealed, "I'm going on Ozempic. So excited. I'm 173 now so I hope to get down to like 130, which would be awesome so I look better in paparazzi pictures."
