Wegovy Dosage Chart
The 0.25mg → 2.4mg weight-loss schedule, plus dose-to-units
Wegovy (semaglutide) is titrated weekly from 0.25mg up to the 2.4mg maintenance dose over about 16–20 weeks. This chart shows the standard escalation schedule and converts each dose to syringe units for vialed or compounded semaglutide. Always follow your prescriber and product label.
How Wegovy titration works
Wegovy is a once-weekly injection that starts at 0.25mg and increases about every 4 weeks. The early doses (0.25mg and 0.5mg) build tolerance and are not the full therapeutic dose — they exist to reduce nausea before reaching 2.4mg.
The target maintenance dose is 2.4mg. If 2.4mg is not tolerated, a 1.7mg maintenance dose is an accepted alternative. You escalate only as side effects allow.
Wegovy titration schedule (0.25mg → 2.4mg)
| Dose | Typical timing | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 0.25 mg | Weeks 1–4 | Starter / tolerance dose (not therapeutic)Best |
| 0.5 mg | Weeks 5–8 | Continued tolerance building |
| 1.0 mg | Weeks 9–12 | Step-up toward target |
| 1.7 mg | Weeks 13–16 | Step-up (and an alternative maintenance dose) |
| 2.4 mg | Week 17+ | Target maintenance dose |
Wegovy / semaglutide dose to syringe units (vials)

| 0.5 mg | 0.5 mL → 50 | 0.2 mL → 20 | 0.1 mL → 10 |
| 1.0 mg | 1.0 mL → 100 | 0.4 mL → 40 | 0.2 mL → 20 |

Escalation tips & safety
If side effects are difficult, holding a dose longer or stepping back is common and reasonable — there is no rule that you must reach 2.4mg on a fixed timeline. Slower titration helps manage nausea and GI symptoms.
This chart is a reference, not medical advice. Your prescriber sets your schedule; confirm dose and concentration carefully if you use vials, and remember 0.25mg equals 250mcg.
Guide FAQs
The target maintenance dose is 2.4mg once weekly. If 2.4mg is not tolerated, 1.7mg is an accepted maintenance dose. Wegovy is titrated up gradually from 0.25mg.
About 16–20 weeks, increasing roughly every 4 weeks: 0.25 → 0.5 → 1.0 → 1.7 → 2.4mg, only as tolerated.
For vials, units depend on concentration. At 2.5mg/mL: 0.25mg = 10 units, 0.5mg = 20, 1mg = 40, 2.4mg = 96. Branded Wegovy pens are pre-measured, so units only apply to vialed/compounded semaglutide.
Both are semaglutide, but Wegovy goes up to 2.4mg for weight management while Ozempic is dosed up to 2mg for type 2 diabetes. The titration concept is similar but the target doses differ.
