Latest Fast-Food Innovations in Protein
Subway and Dunkin' have emerged as the newest quick-service chains to embrace the booming protein enthusiasm by unveiling updated menu selections to kick off 2026.
The brands disclosed these high-protein enhancements on Wednesday, January 7. Dunkin' incorporates Protein Milk as a choice for drinks, whereas Subway debuts a compact snack named Protein Pockets.
As per Dunkin', a standard medium beverage utilizing Protein Milk supplies 15 grams of protein. This initiative encompasses fresh drinks such as the Strawberry Protein Refresher, Caramel Chocolate Iced Protein Latte, and Almond Iced Protein Matcha Latte.
The Massachusetts-based company headquartered in Canton is partnering with rapper Megan Thee Stallion to advertise its novel Protein Milk, featuring a fresh advertisement drawing from 80s fitness videos.
"We viewed protein milk as an organic method to offer patrons greater versatility in savoring the Dunkin' offerings all day long," stated Dunkin' chief marketing officer Jill Nelson. "Protein Milk blends seamlessly into coffees, lattes, and refreshers without altering the preferred tastes, and we're thrilled to back the introduction in surprising manners."
The artist recognized for tracks including "Hot Girl Summer" and "WAP" will also lend her name to Dunkin's latest beverage, Megan's Mango Protein Refresher, building on the firm's 2025 collaboration with pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter.
"Collaborating with Dunkin' to realize my Mango Protein Refresher has proved incredibly thrilling, and I eagerly anticipate the Hotties sampling it," remarked Megan Thee Stallion, whose birth name is Megan Pete. "It serves as an ideal beverage for enhancing workout sessions or enduring demanding days."
Subway, meanwhile, has released $3.99 Protein Pockets and a revolving six-inch Sub of the Day priced at $4.99. The Protein Pockets function as convenient on-the-go choices, delivering over 20 grams of protein each.
