Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring nine-amino-acid peptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) first isolated by Swiss researcher Marcel Monnier in 1974. Monnier collected blood from rabbit cerebral veins during electrically-induced slow-wave sleep, then infused this blood into awake rabbits — which promptly fell into deep delta sleep.
