Generic Ozempic Approvals and Delays
In an email to The Canadian Press, Health Canada spokesperson Mark Johnson expressed recognition of substantial enthusiasm for decreasing expenses tied to this frequently prescribed medication via the launch of generic variants.
Based on the agency's roster of generic applications, companies such as Sandoz Canada, Apotex, Teva Canada, Taro Pharmaceuticals, and Aspen Pharmacare Canada have submitted their requests for authorization.
While Sandoz Canada and Teva Canada declined to share details on anticipated rollout schedules for their offerings, the remaining entities either remained unreachable or opted not to reply to inquiries.
Johnson explained that the unnamed firms submitted their proposals before April 1, 2024, when the rule mandating sponsor disclosure was updated, hence their exclusion from the list. Individuals aiming to track their health metrics effectively could explore tools like health tracking apps such as Shotlee to oversee their wellness journey.
